FarWide Conservation Trust was officially established in June 2022 as a non-profit organization established for charitable purposes as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Established by a small group of passionate conservationists with a vision of addressing some of our most pressing conservation challenges, we use innovative and ground-breaking strategies. The vision of FarWide Conservation Trust is an abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities compatible with the long-term conservation of habitats that support healthy and plentiful populations of fish and wildlife. FarWide Conservation Trust is dedicated to preserving fish and wildlife habitats and expanding outdoor recreational opportunities for future generations.
Our History
FarWide Conservation Trust was founded by Steve Raymond, Founder of FarWide Outdoors, and Steve Donovan, who has over 35 years of experience in natural resource work as a refuge manager, private lands biologist, and conservation program developer. Together, they have launched the FarWide Conservation Trust with a focus on helping protect and restore wildlife habitat and important watershed areas. Through this focus, they look to accomplish greater habitat restoration and increase outdoor recreational opportunities for Sportsmen.
Our Approach
FarWide Conservation will accomplish its mission to promote outdoor recreational opportunities and conserve important habitats for fish and wildlife by protecting natural habitats from extinction. Our approach focuses on three areas of conservation concern: (1) the prairie pothole and playa wetlands regions of the US, (2) alleviating “landlocked” public lands from private inholding, and (3) utilizing regenerative agricultural practices to help improve water cycles, increasing carbon sequestration and enhancing ecosystem services, including wildlife habitat.
Taking Action
With a “direct action” ethos, the Conservation Trust approaches its work and opportunities project-by-project. We have long believed that funding alone can’t be our only model for success. We seek to get our “hands dirty” in the work we deeply believe in. That’s why we have focused our efforts on areas we know we can impact immediately and align with our goals. We’re currently involved in projects across the central US learn more. If you would like to hear about our efforts or would like to take action, please contact us.
